Next Step Donates Mobility Equipment and Consolidates Alliance with Fundaprocura

On May 28, Next Step and the Venezuelan Foundation for the Cure of Paralysis (Fundaprocura) carried out a wheelchair donation event and formalized a new institutional alliance at the organization’s headquarters, located in Chuao, Caracas. The activity was attended by representatives of both institutions, beneficiaries, and family members, with the purpose of contributing to the mobility, inclusion, and quality of life of people with motor disabilities in Venezuela. During the event, nearly 20 wheelchairs were delivered, including standard wheelchairs and sports wheelchairs destined for Fundaprocura’s adapted pickleball team. The event also featured the participation of the giveaway winners selected by Next Step through its social media platforms.

A Solidarity Action That Transforms Lives

The gathering was not limited solely to the delivery of mobility equipment; the event was defined by the support and care provided to the beneficiaries. Before receiving the wheelchairs and orthopedic equipment, children and young people underwent a medical evaluation by a physiotherapist. Afterward, the formal delivery of the medical equipment took place, sharing meaningful moments among patients, family members, and representatives of both organizations. The activity also included a space for patients to enjoy refreshments and gifts provided by Next Step.

These types of initiatives align with the work that Fundaprocura has been developing for over three decades. According to information published by the organization, the foundation has been offering comprehensive care since 1992 to people with motor disabilities who require permanent use of a wheelchair, especially those from low-income backgrounds. Furthermore, through programs such as “Ruedas de Libertad (Wheels of Freedom), it has driven the delivery of thousands of wheelchairs and orthopedic equipment across the country, helping more people gain access to social, educational, and employment inclusion opportunities.

Next Step Seeks to Strengthen Inclusion and Mobility

This new association between Next Step and Fundaprocura represents the beginning of a joint effort that aims to expand access to medical equipment for people with motor disabilities in Venezuela who find themselves in vulnerable situations.

Additionally, as published on Fundaprocura’s official website, the organization also develops rehabilitation, job training, and human development programs oriented toward promoting a more autonomous and independent life for its users. Therefore, building new alliances with private companies like Next Step strengthens the continuity of these programs and broadens the reach of social assistance.
